COMPETE FOR THE CROWN OF BEST BRITISH CYCLING ‘RIDE SOCIAL’ AND HELP GET MORE PEOPLE OUT ON THEIR BIKES.

British Cycling is the national governing body for cycling as recognised by the UCI – the international federation for the sport. Based in Manchester at the National Cycling Centre, British Cycling works across all levels and six disciplines of the sport (BMX, Mountain Bike, Cyclo-cross, Road, Track and Cycle Speedway), providing the support and encouragement people need to get riding their bikes for the first time all the way through to being home to the hugely successful Great Britain Cycling Team.

Cycling’s even more fun when you do it with other people. So British Cycling created Ride Social – an easy way to find other like-minded cyclists and get out on your bikes together. Join Britain’s biggest social cycling network to:

  • Find local cyclists who enjoy the same riding as you
  • Join bike rides organised by users – or create your own
  • Share your favourite routes
  • Find a local cycling group – or create your own.

THE COMPETITION

British Cycling have launched Ride Social to encourage people to become more actively involved in cycling events.

They are running a competition for four influencers from different backgrounds to put on a Ride Social event ‘their way’. You might be a Mountaineer, a Skier, a Rambler, but all ride a bike and have an idea to get people to join you.

British Cycling and Ride Social will pick four rides to receive a bursary to put on the event. Those four rides will be put to a public vote and see which is the most popular. The ride that wins the vote will receive a cash prize in addition to the bursary.

Your ride should be innovative, engaging and exciting. Perhaps it will have a stunning backdrop or show-off an area in a totally new light. Whatever your creativity allows for. First and foremost, the Ride Social you propose should promote cycling and participation in Ride Social and get as many people as possible along to your event. Good luck!
