Freestak are very proud to have helped inov-8 launch it’s new TRAILROC shoe in the Lake District by running a global competition to bring seven lucky winners to the home of fell running
The seven – who made up #TeamGetAGrip – stayed in the heart of fell country and learned about the history of fell running from none other than legend Kenny Stuart. They were able to put the theory into practice with a masterclass in ascending and descending from inov-8 athletes Ben Mounsey, Mary Wilkinson and Ben Abdelnoor. The lucky few also visited inov-8 HQ to discover the history of the brand, its design process, and try on the shoes and the apparel that they would come to race in at the legendary Skiddaw Fell Race.
Organised by Keswick AC, ‘the Skiddaw’ was a baptism of fire for our runners, who whilst familiar with their trails back home, were faced with the prospect of summiting one of the highest peaks in the UK… then running the 5 miles straight back down! Race day was soon upon our winners and after some last minute advice from inov-8 ambassadors, such as Three Peaks race record-holder Victoria Wilkinson and 2016 British Fell Running champion Rhys Findlay-Robinson they set off on the hard, rocky trails. All seven – plus invited journalists and US retailers crushed the course, battling each other and seasoned fell running regulars all the way to the finish line in Fitz Park.
Their journey was documented throughout by Dave MacFarlane, whose video you can watch above and James Carnegie, whose images can be viewed below.
The new TRAILROC will be available to buy in July/August from inov.com
